Electricity has been rated as the number one invention of all time. Although electricity is indeed a great friend and servant, it must be treated with respect. At Woodbury County Rural Electric Cooperative, electrical safety is of highest priority not only for our employees but for the general public as well.
With planting season upon us it is time for all persons involved in agriculture to be especially cautious. Today’s modern tillage equipment and planters can fold in many different ways and reach heights which can become dangerously close to contacting overhead power lines. Before planting this season, look for power lines. Especially those near driveways.
With the nice weather of spring, kids like to be outside flying kites and climbing trees. Both of those activities are fun but an adult needs to inspect the area for the kite flying and tree climbing to make sure there are no overhead power lines near.
Electric safety is not difficult. It’s just a matter of looking up for overhead power lines and staying away from them.
